ATV safety training requirements

Ages 10 – 15:

  • Youth ages 10 – 15 first complete the ATV Safety Online Course at ATVcourse.com opens in a new browser tab.
     

  • Next, attend a Hands-on Safety class:  Students ages 10- 15 must register for a Hands-On ATV Safety Training class located on our Class Calendar (below). 

  • This is a free event sponsored by the club 

Registration is complete only after confirmation is received
Must furnish your own ATV that appropriately fits child - NO SIDE BY SIDES!

The Hands-On training includes: Basic ATV operation; protecting the environment; common ATV parts and controls; MN rules and laws; responsible ATV riding skills for trail riding, and practicing/demonstrating skills on an ATV course. *Student must be fitted to the ATV they will be operating.

Requirements: Must be 10 years of age before class start date listed above and have completed the online course in order to be eligible to take this class. Bring online completion voucher to class. Must bring Helmet, Eye Protection, Gloves, Boots/Shoes over the ankles.

Mille Lacs Drift Skippers Snowmobile and ATV Club was award this upcoming event by the ATVM board in Jan 2024.  Please plan to attend in May.  Watch for more details and dates for this fun event that attracts over 300 riders each year.  Its a great way to start the season off.

Vintage Show and lunch

Pancake breakfast, The Vintage Show and Lunch was be February 17, 2024.  Over 60 sleds registered for the show.  Thank you to all that attended.   

 

Sadly the ride was cancelled due to a lack of snow.

The second Saturday in February, 2/10/24, is the International Snowmobile Ride Day. This is a day to encourage everyone to bundle up for an exciting adventure outside on a snowmobile. #SnowmobileRideDay

The day was a success despite the cold and 15 students completed the class!

The club will be holding a YOUTH  snowmobile safety class in January and ATV in June, 2024.  All students must complete the online class and have the certificates before attending the Field Day. On- line classes are available on the DNR web page.  

Students should dress for the weather and must bring their own helmet.  Parents must be with the register the child and are encouraged to stay for the class.

Pink ribbon riders at Muggs

This event went wonderfully despite no snow.  All joined in this fund raising event on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Everyone was invited and many locals attended.   Over $21,000 was raised for Breast Cancer survivors and research! 

Snowfest 10

This years Snowfest and Vintage Snowmobile Show is on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Muggs in Wahkon, MN (snow or no snow).

There was  snow and a record 86 sleds registered.

The club maintains both ATV and Snowmobile trails, participates in parades and has many special events. Your assistance for even a short time, finding a skill you have, is appreciated. Please contact the Drift Skipper's volunteer coordinator to find out options or attend a meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month: 6:30 dinner and 7p.m. meeting.
